Chief Business Officers

There are four chancellor units (major operating units)— Rutgers University–Camden, Rutgers University–Newark, Rutgers University–New Brunswick, and Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences. Each chancellor unit has a senior administrator who oversees the financial and administrative operations, they report directly to the respective Chancellors, as well as to the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and University Treasurer.

Kathleen F. Bramwell, Senior Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration, serves as the chief financial and administrative officer of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.  With over 25 years of experience in an academic medical center, Ms. Bramwell provides advice regarding the strategic positioning of RBHS to optimize business development and entrepreneurial opportunities. She is responsible for recommending strategies to assure fiscal solvency, economic well-being, and administrative and operational efficiencies across the tripartite mission. She provides financial direction and administrative oversight for eight schools, a behavioral health network and five centers and institutes, and works in partnership with hospital affiliates to assure strong alignment and close collaboration.

Ms. Bramwell holds a B.B.A. degree summa cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Holy Family University.

Larry started working at Rutgers University in November 1986 as the business manager for the Faculty of Business Studies at Rutgers University–Camden. He supported the Dean in the creation of the Rutgers School of Business–Camden (June, 1988) and its 1994 accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – International. He continued to serve the School of Business as Associate Dean for Administration and Finance until 2005 when he was named Associate Provost for Administration and Finance.  In 2009, he was promoted to Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance.  Prior to Rutgers, Larry worked in finance and administration in both community and four-year colleges.  He earned his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University–Camden and his MBA at Monmouth University.

Ms. Ortiz manages the Rutgers University–New Brunswick’s financial and related administrative operations, and makes recommendations to the Chancellor to ensure the fiscal health and administrative efficiency and effectiveness of Rutgers University–New Brunswick. She manages the annual budget and management and financial reporting processes of the university, and oversees and monitors the annual budgets of the New Brunswick schools, centers, and institutes. In addition, she is responsible for the coordination of the work of the non-academic functions and administrative units for Rutgers University–New Brunswick.
