Clinical Patient Safety Online Education Program

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, has contracted Med-IQ to provide an educational, web-based patient safety and clinical loss prevention program. The program has three principal goals: 

  • Enhance patient safety 

  • Minimize errors and adverse outcomes 

  • Reduce the frequency and severity of medical malpractice claims and litigation 

Successful completion of the curriculum is mandatory for all residents and fellows. 

Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) students and faculty can expect the following from Med-IQ: 

  • An online portal hosting a program unique to RBHS that will evolve according to the needs of RBHS and its providers.  

  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for faculty. 

  • Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) curriculum requirements for residents. 

  • Annual reviews of participation, analyses of learner assessments, and post-course evaluations. 

  • Annual program updates to refresh the curriculum based on the findings of the previous year(s). 

  • Dedicated account management for RBHS. 

  • 24/7, 365 phone, email, and chat support for RBHS learners.

  • All eligible faculty, fellows, residents, and students are pre-registered. 

  • Yes. If you do not have one, please contact the Rutgers IST Help Desk at 732-743-3200. 

  • No; provide your clinical chairperson with documentation of your successful completion of the program. 

  • Yes. Housestaff may be directed by their Program Director or Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education (GME) to complete specific courses. Therefore, it is prudent for housestaff—particularly those completing their residency or fellowship in a period shorter than three years—to confirm their requirements with these points of contact.
