University Vehicles
To operate a university vehicle, faculty, staff, or student drivers must
-
possess a valid driver's license;
-
have two years of driving experience; and
-
successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course*.
While operating a privately owned vehicle on university business, employees must carry
-
a valid driver's license;
-
a vehicle registration card; and
-
an insurance identification card.
*The Department of Emergency Services offers the defensive driving course. Course requirement may be waived for occasional drivers who don't transport passengers.
Automobile Insurance Cards
When vehicles are purchased/leased for the university or donated to it, an Automobile Insurance Card must immediately be obtained from the Department of Risk Management & Insurance. Please also notify us of university vehicles that are sold, transferred, or retired from service, so we can remove them from the insurance schedules.
