As the inaugural Chief Data Officer and Assistant Vice President at Rutgers, Kappu Ramasubramanian provides strategic leadership and vision to advance data analytics, enabling the university to leverage data as a strategic asset for decision-making across academic, administrative, and research units.

Prior to joining Rutgers, Kappu founded Disha Consulting, where she partnered with higher education institutions to strengthen data strategy, governance, and analytics. She previously served as Chief Data and Analytics Officer at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and UVA Health System, where she built the data analytics function from the ground up, developing a scalable, integrated data ecosystem that enhanced analytics capabilities, fostered a data-driven culture, and drove innovation to support institutional decision-making.

Kappu holds an MBA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Madras University.
