Dependent Tuition Remission
Eligible dependents will receive remission for tuition only. All other charges are the student’s responsibility.
Students who qualify for both the New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) and Dependent/Staff Tuition Remission will have TAG applied to their tuition charges first. Any remaining tuition balance will then be covered by the Dependent/Staff Tuition Remission benefit set forth in University Policy.
As both TAG and Dependent/Staff Tuition Remission cover tuition expenses, the combination of TAG and Dependent/Staff Tuition Remission cannot exceed the actual cost of
tuition.
TAG is the need-based financial aid program administered by the New Jersey Higher Education Assistance Authority (HESSA) to offset tuition costs for eligible New Jersey residents. Eligibility requirements include, but are not limited to, being enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program and demonstrating financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application. Dependent/Staff Tuition Remission is an Educational Assistance Program for eligible Rutgers employees and their eligible dependent children. Specific guidelines are available on the Rutgers University Human Resources Educational Assistance Program webpage
Tuition remission for a dependent child of a Rutgers employee does not require a paper form. To explore tuition remission options, log in to the myRutgers portal and click on the Dependent Remission button under the My Benefits widget.
Summer Session students: Please complete form RT-102 if you would like to apply your tuition remission benefit to your summer courses. The tuition remission benefit can only be used for one summer semester.
