FLT Profile: Jeff Boone

Jeff Boone, Vice President for Finance and Associate Treasurer joined UFA and the Finance Leadership Team (FLT) in June 2023. Jeff provides leadership to the Controller’s Office, Treasury, Tax Office, Risk Management and Insurance, and Occupational Health. He has a critical role in directing key finance functions with a material impact on the university's financial results and operations. Jeff previously worked at the University of Miami.

What is your best habit at work, and what is your worst?  
Persistence to close out assignments, tasks, projects.  My worst habit is probably a lack of patience, which I’m working on.

Tell us about your first job.  
My first job was as an Analyst/Auditor at the Federal Reserve.

What is your favorite and/or least favorite aspect of your job? 
My favorite part of the job is working with people to achieve financial results that lead to improved financial sustainability and operational efficiency.

Family pictures

Have you been mentored or do you mentor, and what is that experience like?  
Yes, I have been mentored and I mentor for the purpose of helping to develop managers in the same manner that someone mentored and helped develop me as a manager.

How do you unplug? 
I watch the news and sports.

What is your favorite music genre and/or your favorite “get pumped” song?  
R&B, 80s and 90s music

What is your go-to food for fast fuel?  
Popeyes, McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell

I have a 3-year-old Jack Russell terrier since our 15-year-old Jack Russell passed away 3 years ago.
