There are many ways to pay for goods and services at Rutgers.
Using supplier commerce sites called "punchout catalogs" within RU Marketplace, you can procure goods and services directly from contracted university suppliers or from units within the university. These are best used for quick and on-time purchases and are not intended for blanket or standing purchases that will be invoiced repeatedly. Learn more about RU Marketplace >
A Quick Order is a type of purchase order for unrestricted goods, under $50,000, from non-contracted suppliers. Made through RU Marketplace, Quick Orders do not require additional review by University Procurement Services, but they are solely intended for one-time purchases of goods and may not be used for blanket or standing purchase orders that require repeated invoicing.
Goods and Service requests are used for service or quantity-based goods purchases above $50,000 and for goods purchases that cannot be completed via Quick Order. The Service Request form may also be used for leases and blanket orders. Visit RU Marketplace and search individual suppliers to obtain specific information about required bidding and quote processes.
Check Requests and non-PO Uploads are used for payments to individuals or organizations, such as honoraria, awards and prizes, gift cards, and reimbursement for certain types of approved expenses. Submission occurs via RU Marketplace and will require review by University Procurement Services.
Internal Purchase Orders allow Rutgers units to procure goods and services, including website design, facilities-related requests, room rental fees, etc., from other units or departments at the university. Orders must go through RU Marketplace but do not require additional review by University Procurement Services.
Rutgers issues two types of purchasing cards to eligible employees for official, university business expenses: one for department purchases and the other for official university travel. Card management, including requests for new cards, adjustments to card limits, and expense management occurs in Concur.
Use a quick order (for goods) or a service request form. Goods can also be purchased from a non-contracted supplier using a quick order. Required documents will vary but include at least one (1) quote attached to the requisition as an external attachment. For contracted suppliers, visit the Search for specific details. For non-contracted suppliers, visit some made up page.
Purchases in this range will require a quick order (for goods) or a service request form. For Non-Contracted Suppliers. Requires at least two quotes, a completed Informal Bid Intake Form, and other material that is specified on the supplier search page. If you intend to pursue a service-based purchase, a Statement of Work will also be required.
